Godaddy offers web hosting and domain registration services, but in this article, we’ll concentrate on how to register a domain name from godaddy on blogger.

A domain or domain name is simply a link or path for viewing all your files on a server from your hosting provider.

While a hosting provider is simply a website which stores all the contents of your blog on their servers, is a free hosting site unlike

Examples of domain names are ,,,your etc.
Blogs with or are called subdomains.

Now that you have known what a domain is, let’s take a look at how to purchase and register these domains from Godaddy on blogger platform.

Many new bloggers finds it difficult to buy and register domains from godaddy due to sophistications of their website design and inability to understand blogger domain verification codes.

How To Register and connect godaddy domain to blogger,

Step 1.
Domain name purchase.

First choose your domain name ,choose a name that best relates to your contents , eg:. don’t put www. It will automatically be added by itself after you bought the domain.

Now go to godaddy,sign up with them if u haven’t done that before or login.
Check the pricing plans and choose the one that best suites you.
After that, type in your domain name in the search bar and search , if its available you will see “available” behind the search bar, if not available, choose another name and search.

If available click on it ,add it to cart, check carefully the plan you’ve chosen if it’s for the number of years you want, add your payments details and submit.

They will debit your account according to price chosen, you may experience double debit, don’t panic as this will be refunded back to you after some days automatically.

If successful, on your dashboard ,you will see the domain you bought.
Congratulations!!, you have just bought a domain name.

But this domain won’t work when clicked until you connect it to your blogger site.

Now let’s proceed to Blogger for connecting the new domain.

Step 2.
CONNECT GODADDY domain to blogger.

Now proceed to connect your godaddy domain to blogger, login to the your blogger account, select the blog you want to connect to your new domain.

Now click SETTINGS,under basic, scroll to where your blog is written and click set up a third party URL for your blog

On the new box that appears, type in the full blog name of the one you just bought above and click save.
Make sure you start with www.

Now ,it will display a set of codes under
NAME, LABEL FIELD Destination like the one above .
You will use these codes to create a CNAME on your godaddy dashboard.

  1. Now Go to your godaddy dashboard.
  2. Click on the menu icon.
  3. Select DNS from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select Manage zones.
  5. Now search the domain you bought recently again(don’t put www).
  6. A panel should appear , from the panel, select Records.

6. Click “ADD” ,you will see a menu like this one below.

7. Now under “type” ,select Cname.
Under “host” copy put ‘www’
Under “points to” ,put,.

Don’t reset the TTL, leave the default which is 1 hour.
Now click save.

Second step.

8. Click “ADD” again, the same menu will appear again.

Select CNAME as usual under “type”
This time under “host” ,go to blogger and copy the codes under www. Copy the circled code below from your blogger.

After copying it, paste it on any text editor and add your subdomain blogger name to it.

The whole code should look like this :. Fzon7hulahs.yourblogname.,
Now copy the whole code and paste it under host.

9. Under “points to”.
Copy the next code opposite the one u copied above.
It should look like this>>
Paste it into ” points to” and click save .
Everything should look like this.

Now go to your blogger dashboard again , under all these codes select save,
if you pasted the codes successfully without mistakes it will save and for that moment your subdomain blog would be unavailable but after some time , about 30 minutes, it will be back with your new domain name.
Congratulations!!, you have successfully bought a new domain name from Godaddy.
